The present book summarizes the experience and suggestions from more than 40 years of research and development, construction and application of counter-current systems in various areas of competitive sports, health sports, rehabilitation sports, fitness and exercise therapy. Great focus is given to sports science and training methods around counter-current systems, since, as we have found out, they are either unknown and new, or many experts are no longer active in the field. Therefore, for swimming training, both for competitive athletes as well as for recreational and fitness athletes, basic programs for work in and with the counter-current systems have been written down in the book, based on our sports-scientific and training-methodical experience and knowledge. They are meant to serve as an example of inspiration and a basis for your own training. Before use, they need to be individually coordinated with the trainer/coach/exercise instructor, athlete/proband and therapist/physician and adapted as seems fit for your own purposes.
