Part 1: Selection and initial inspection of optical visual testing equipment (endoscopes, videoscopes, inspection cameras): Precision instruments such as endoscopes and videoscopes or inspection cameras, respectively, are used for supporting visual testing, as components of equipment systems in the most cases. Respective quality standards are mandatory for responsible and successful application of these systems. The requirements to the capability of equipment systems are determined by the test task and the aim of the test, respectively. A reliable statement about the image quality (and, consequently, about the quality of the test results) can be made only if the equipment systems are comparable, appraisable and verifiable. This leaflet serves as an aid for the qualification of optical devices (endoscopes, videoscopes, inspection cameras) for a particular test task: the initial assessment of the technical capability of the system. Part 2: Examination (repeated inspection) of optical visual testing equipment (endoscopes, videoscopes, inspection cameras ) by the user: Visual testing is supported by precision instruments like endoscopes (videoscopes) or inspection cameras, mostly incorporated in equipment systems. For a responsible and successful employment of these systems certain quality standards are required. The test task and the test aim defines the requirements to the performance of equipment systems. A reliable statement about the image quality, and the test result therewith, can be made only if the equipment systems are examined repeatedly during the application period. This technical bulletin is an aid for repeated examination (inspection equipment monitoring) of the equipment systems employed for a particular test task.
