Die Glyptothek, hailed by many as the «most beautiful museum in Munich», possesses outstanding works of Greek and Roman sculpture. Of exceptional importance is also the large number of naturalistic Roman portraits. This lavishly illustrated volume offers for the first time a comprehensive survey of this unique collection, founded by King Ludwig I of Bavaria and opended in 1830. Raimund Wünsche was the Director of the Staatliche Antikensammlungen and the Glyptothek in Munich from 1994 2011.
