Die Neuauflage dieses Buches wurde für das Heilige Jahr 2025 erstellt und steht unter dem Motto „Pilger der Hoffnung“. Zu diesem Anlass wurde die Zahl der für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglichen römischen Katakomben erweitert. Sie gehören zu den bedeutendsten Zeugnissen des frühen Christentums und beherbergen zahlreiche Märtyrergräber. Sie sind wichtige Etappen der Jubiläums-Wallfahrt. Mit diesem Buch liegt nun in dritter Auflage eine umfassende Publikation zu den christlichen Katakomben Roms in vier Sprachen vor, die die aktuellen Ergebnisse der internationalen Katakombenforschung anschaulich, umfassend und auf aktuellem Forschungsstand darstellt. Per l’occasione, è stato ampliato il numero delle catacombe romane aperte al pubblico, che sono tra le più importanti testimonianze del primo cristianesimo e conservano molte tombe di martiri, tappe fondamentali del pellegrinaggio giubilare. Questo libro è la quarta edizione di una pubblicazione completa sulle catacombe cristiane di Roma in quattro lingue, che presenta i risultati attuali della ricerca catacombale internazionale in modo chiaro, completo e aggiornato.
